World Fair Trade Organization (WFTO) (formerly, International Federation of Alternative Trade – IFAT) is a federation of producers and "alternative" trading organizations (ATOs). In WFTO, producers of handicrafts and food products from the developing countries come together directly with buyers and managers of ATOs as friends and partners in a spirit of mutual trust. They cast aside the traditional trading system of middlemen and create an "alternative" way of doing business that is beneficial and fair. WFTO's objectives are twofold:

• To improve the livelihood and well-being of disadvantaged people in developing countries; and
• To change unfair structures of international trade.

Established in 1989, WFTO now has more than 150 members in over 45 countries. It has five elected Executive Committee members from Asia, Latin America, Europe and the Pacific Rim and a Secretariat based in the UK. Sasha is a member of WFTO and represents Asia in the Executive Committee .

The principles to which WFTO members are committed are laid out in the Code of Practice agreed to in 1995 by all members, North and South.
