Report of the Eye Camp

Free eye check-up camp was arranged by Sasha (SSA/ EDF) in association with Eye Care Research Centre- a specialized eye hospital in the communities of Sasha Producer groups Kolkata, on 7th July & 26 November 2007. These camps were held for three producer groups of SASHA- Sagarika, Panchannagram Mahila Samity and Prochesta at Panchannagram & Baruipur.

Besides a routine eye check-up by ophthalmologists, the patients were specially examined for cataracts, squints, glaucoma, etc. Out of the 167 people from three groups who took part in those camps, 50 were suggested to take spectacles and 18 were detected for cataract surgery and referred to the Eye Care Research Centre.

Most of the beneficiaries were unable to pay the entire cost of the spectacles so the organizations subsidized them.
