On the 23rd of November Sri Kishore Gordhandas gave an introductory talk on Gangifa Cards illustrated with slides from his collection. After he explained the rules, everyone broke up into groups to try the game out. Craftsmen demonstrated how the cards are made.

Ganjifa or ganjappa cards are the traditional playing cards in India. Their history is shrouded in a haze. Today, Orissa is the only living center for traditional playing cards where ganjappa is played for recreation, though here too it is on the decline. read more
